Dylan Bob

How was Bob Dylan the Greek Chorus of the 60’s and the father of Folk Music in America?
I have to do a short (3-5) page research paper, my thesis being that Bob Dylan both brought Folk music into American culture and served as the Greek Chorus (meaning social commentator) of the 1960’s in America. I need reliable books and websites that have information about this topic. Anyone have any recommendations?
Sorry, but I’d change my thesis if I were you.
Dylan wasn’t the father of folk music, nor did he bring it into American culture. The folk revival began in the 40s, and was in full swing by the 50s-long before Dylan arrived on the scene in ‘61.
Woody Guthrie would most accurately be called the father of American folk music (certainly not Burl Ives, who sold his folk friends down the river testifying before Congress!)
As far as Greek chorus/social commentator-Dylan rejected that mantle over and over again. In the 60s, that title would have belonged to either Phil Ochs or Tom Paxton, fellow alumni of the Greenwich village scene along with Dylan.
I’m not trying to dissuade you for any reason other than the fact that you will have an extremely difficult time trying to support your thesis, particularly the first part. I’ve researched Dylan for 30 years and have hundreds of books on him. I’m unaware of any sources that would reinforce your first point.
